Leybold DRYVAC
DRYVAC is Leybold's oil-free dry screw vacuum pump for continuous industrial use. The flow range of 200–1,600 m³/h covers demanding industrial processes where contamination risk, uptime, and energy consumption are decisive factors.
Applications and suitability
DRYVAC is suitable for continuous industrial use, including demanding, moist, or variable gas-load processes. The oil-free process chamber prevents contamination, and the hermetic design also allows operation with aggressive gases. The series covers flow rates of 200–1,600 m³/h, so suitability for a given application varies by model size, which we help you determine when selecting the right model. Typical applications:
- Automotive industry and electrical engineering
- Vacuum coating and heat treatment
- Metallurgy and furnaces
- Freeze-drying
- Leak testing equipment and load locks
- Crystal growth and casting
- Backing pump for higher-vacuum systems
DRYVAC is also broadly suited to other demanding industrial vacuum processes that require oil-free, continuous operation.
Models and technical data
The DRYVAC series covers seven size classes from DV 200 to DV 1600, with flow rates of 200–1,600 m³/h. The smaller models (DV 200, 300, 500) are available in a Basic version, while from the DV 650 upward a Smart version is also available, with power electronics and purge gas monitoring integrated directly into the pump for local or remote operation. The DV 650 and DV 800 share the same housing dimensions, as do the DV 1200 and DV 1600, making it easier to switch between models and integrate them into systems.
All models are water-cooled and equipped with a built-in frequency converter that monitors outlet pressure, motor temperature, and cooling water outlet temperature. The models can be connected directly to Leybold RUVAC Roots blowers via an adapter, allowing pumping capacity to be increased according to application requirements. You'll find the detailed technical specifications for each model in the expandable tables below.

Why DRYVAC?
Handles even the most demanding processes: An oil-free process chamber and hermetically sealed design with multiple purge options make it suitable even for aggressive and moist processes.
Energy efficient: An optimized rotor geometry keeps power consumption low. With the DRYVAC Energy Saver option (DV 650 and DV 800), energy consumption is reduced by up to 50%, according to the manufacturer, when inlet pressure is below 5 mbar.
Stable pumping performance: High, consistent pumping speed throughout the service life.
Plug-and-play intelligence: The built-in frequency converter is cooled by indirect water cooling, which the manufacturer states protects it from impurities and dust in industrial water. The GENIUS Instant Insights™ cloud service (free basic access plus two paid tiers) gives a real-time view of pump availability and maintenance needs.
Compact size: According to Leybold, DRYVAC is significantly smaller than comparable pumps, saving space in the production environment.

Lifecycle from purchase to maintenance
DRYVAC is designed for continuous, demanding industrial use, and its oil-free design keeps maintenance needs low. The lifecycle from procurement to maintenance proceeds smoothly, stage by stage, when acquisition, commissioning, maintenance, and contingency planning are managed properly.
Purchase and commissioning
We help you choose the right DV model based on your process's flow rate and operating conditions. All DRYVAC models are water-cooled, so during commissioning we plan the cooling water connection as part of the installation in advance. If your process requires higher pumping speed, DRYVAC can be combined with a RUVAC Roots blower already at the procurement stage. At delivery, we also provide guidance on using the frequency converter and setting up the GENIUS Instant Insights portal.
Initial period and warranty
A new Leybold vacuum pump comes with a manufacturer's warranty. The initial period is a good time to monitor cooling water quality and temperature, as these directly affect the pump's service life. As a Leybold dealer, we handle any warranty claims directly.
Preventive maintenance
The dry mechanism extends service intervals compared to oil-lubricated vacuum pumps, but the bearing lubricant (LVO 210) still requires periodic replacement. GENIUS Instant Insights remote monitoring enables data-driven maintenance planning, which is especially valuable at this size class, where downtime costs are high. The Energy Saver option available for the DV 650 and DV 800 also reduces operating costs over the long term.
Managing downtime
If your vacuum process can't tolerate an unexpected shutdown, we arrange a replacement pump for use until the fault is repaired. The larger DRYVAC models are heavy to move, so field service without removing the pump is especially valuable at this size class.
