Leybold VARODRY
VARODRY is Leybold's air-cooled industrial dry screw vacuum pump. The flow rate range of 65–200 m³/h covers processes that require the performance of a heavy-duty industrial dry pump without the installation and maintenance burden of water cooling.
Applications and suitability
VARODRY suits applications where a water cooling connection would be difficult to arrange or would add unnecessary installation costs, but the process still requires an industrial-grade dry pump. Belt drive and lifetime-lubricated bearings keep the number of replaceable parts low, and the pump never requires oil changes at any stage.
Typical applications:
- Heat treatment and industrial furnaces
- Coating processes where the pump is exposed to vapors and dust
- Lithium-ion battery manufacturing, where an oil-free process is important for cleanliness requirements
- Portable and mobile vacuum systems where water cooling is not practically feasible
- Repeated, fast pumping cycles that would wear a water-cooled pump more heavily
For processes handling high oxygen concentrations, the VARODRY HD/O2 is available, rated for up to 100% oxygen.
Models and technical data
The VARODRY series covers flow rates of 65–200 m³/h across four models (VD 65, VD 100, VD 160, VD 200). All models are air-cooled and belt-driven, with a built-in gas ballast for handling moisture. In addition to the base model, VARODRY is available in three special versions: an OEM version with a smaller footprint for system integration, an HD/O2 version rated for up to 100% oxygen for demanding coating and drying applications, and the VDi System, a complete package with a RUVAC booster for processes requiring higher pumping speed. You'll find the detailed technical specifications for each model in the expandable tables below.

Why VARODRY?
No water cooling required: VARODRY is air-cooled, while many other industrial dry screw pumps require water or glycol cooling. This simplifies installation and eliminates cooling circuit maintenance entirely.
Only two replaceable parts: Belt drive and lifetime-lubricated bearings mean that maintenance on the entire pump is essentially limited to the belt and bearings. Users can replace the belt themselves in under 30 minutes, and the pump never requires oil changes at any stage.
Withstands demanding conditions: A self-draining design and optimized temperature profile allow droplets and liquid discharge to flow freely out of the pump, while the built-in gas ballast prevents internal condensation when handling vapors. The pump also tolerates repeated, fast start-stop cycles.
Scales to your needs: In addition to the base model, an OEM version is available for space-saving installations, an HD/O2 version rated for up to 100% oxygen, and the VDi System for processes requiring higher pumping speed.

Lifecycle from purchase to maintenance
Purchase and commissioning
We help you choose the right model and version for your application, since models within the VARODRY series differ in pumping speed and size class, and in addition to the base model, OEM, HD/O2, and VDi versions are also available. At delivery, we arrange commissioning and on-site guidance. Since VARODRY is air-cooled, no separate water or glycol cooling connection is needed, making installation and commissioning simpler than with water-cooled pumps.
Initial period and warranty
A new Leybold vacuum pump comes with a manufacturer's warranty. As Leybold's official dealer, we handle any warranty claims directly, streamlining the process if an unexpected warranty issue arises.
Preventive maintenance
VARODRY's maintenance needs are essentially limited to the belt and bearings, and the pump never requires oil changes. The belt can be replaced by the user in under 30 minutes, with a typical replacement interval of around a year, depending on the application. Bearings have a typical service life of around three years. We help schedule maintenance and arrange service for your pump.
Managing downtime
If your vacuum process can't tolerate unexpected shutdowns, we arrange a replacement pump for use until maintenance is complete and VARODRY is back in service.
